DV9 Specific FAQs
All our manuals are available here.
The short answer is no. We intentionally designed the frame sothat a 27.5” x 2.8” plus tire would not fit. Mounting 27.5” plus tires would lower the bottom bracket too far, causing issues with pedal strikes.
That said, we wanted to make the DV9 as versatile as possible, so we made it compatible with high volume 29” x 2.6” tires. They deliver the same excellent traction and control you experience with 27.5” plus tires, without causing pedal strikes.
The DV9 is optimized around a 44mm offset fork. A 51mm offset fork shortens the trail (the distance between the contact patch and the steering axis), which can cause the front end to feel less stable.
No, the Fox 36 has a larger axle to crown height and stiffer chassis than the Fox 34. A 140mm Fox 36 will put too much stress on the frame's headtube.
Most 29” x 2.6” tires will fit on the DV9. Always verify there is a minimum of 8mm of clearance between the frame and tire at the tightest point before riding.
The max chainring on the DV9 is a 34t.
Yes, the max size oval chainring we recommend is a 32T. Not all oval chainrings are the same, so we recommend double checking clearance before installation.
Yes, the DV9 includes a chain guide mount and upper chain guide.
Upper guide ISCG 05 chain guides can be installed with modification to the ISCG 05 tab. The lower left bolt hole will need to be cut from the tab so there is no interference with the frame's shape. You can also use a bottom bracket mount style guide.
No, the DV9 does not support an unmodified Ibis ISCG 05 tab. Bash guards can not be safely mounted to a ISCG 05 tab with two holes.
Bikes with a Sram UDH derailleur hanger require a crankset capable of achieving a 55mm chainline.
55mm chainline cranksets include:
Sram Dub Wide Cranksets.
Shimano 120 Series Cranksets.
A variety of other manufacturers offer 55mm chainline cranksets. Verify with your preferred crankset manufacturer before purchasing and installing.
Check out our Bottom Bracket installation guide for 55mm chainline cranksets here.
Bikes with a Sram UDH derailleur hanger (Ripley V4S, Ripmo V2S, DV9) are 55mm chainline. The Exie is an exception to this rule and utilizes 52mm chainline cranksets.
Bikes with theIbis 142/148 derailleur hanger (AFs and past models) are 52mm chainline. The Hakka MX has a 45-47.5mm chainline depending on the brand/model of the crankset.
The DV9 uses 160mm post mount rear brake mounts.
To run a 180mm rotor, you'll use the following Shimano part number: SM-MA-F180P / P2
To run a 203mm rotor, you'll use the following Shimano part number: SM-MA-F203P / P
